Etcetera Community Performers Program
Thank you for your interest in joining the cast of Etcetera 38: Reach!
Each spring, we bring together a dynamic community of performers for an unforgettable musical celebration at the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre; and this year, we’re raising the bar higher than ever. Whether you’re stepping onto the stage for the first time or you’re a seasoned performer ready to sharpen your craft, Etcetera 38 promises an experience that is challenging, rewarding, and truly electrifying.
Now entering its 38th annual production, Etcetera has built a legacy of excellence, creativity, and powerful performances, and Reach is set to be one of our most ambitious and exciting shows yet.
This year’s production is a high-energy, genre-spanning showcase featuring music from Hairspray, The Greatest Showman, and Something Rotten!, alongside hits from artists like Harry Styles, Olivia Dean, and Bruno Mars. Add in folk, rock, classical, and more, and you have a show that celebrates versatility, storytelling, and the thrill of live performance—etcetera, etcetera, etcetera…
Why Join Etcetera 38?
For emerging performers: This is your chance to gain real stage experience in a supportive, high-quality production environment. You’ll build confidence, develop your voice and movement skills, and discover what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself.
For experienced performers: This is your opportunity to refine your technique, push your performance skills further, and take the stage in a polished, large-scale production. Expect strong musical direction, exciting choreography, and the chance to be featured in a show that demands excellence.
And here’s the best part: There is no audition required and no cost to join. We believe great performances start with passion, not pressure. If you’re eager to be on stage, committed to growing, and excited to be part of something special, you belong here.
Who can join? The Community Performers Program is open to performers from Grade 2 through Grade 12, creating a vibrant, supportive environment where younger performers can be inspired and older performers can lead and shine.
Rehearsals
Etcetera 38 Community Performers rehearsals will generally take place on Saturdays, 12:00pm–2:00pm, from Saturday May 2, until Etcetera 38 is performed on the main stage of the St. John’s Arts & Culture Centre on June 28th. A more detailed rehearsal schedule will be included for all registered performers.
Rehearsals will take place at our studio housed in Gower Street United Church, downtown St. John’s.
As we approach the performance, additional rehearsals may be scheduled to bring the show to its full potential.
We expect commitment—but we also understand that life happens. If you need to miss a rehearsal, simply let us know in advance.
Costuming
Performers will:
Purchase an Etcetera 38 t-shirt ($20), used as both a costume piece and a keepsake
Provide their own black pants, black socks, and black shoes
All additional costume elements will be provided by Etcetera Productions.
